We currently provide the following clinics. As work continues to be passed from consultants to GPs, more clinics are likely to appear in order to absorb this work.
Appointments are available with the practice nurses. We review medication and test lung function and advise on choice of inhaler, inhaler technique, breathing techniques and self-management.
Clinics are available with the midwife on Monday lunchtimes, as part of the shared care programme with Epsom & St Helier's Hospital.
Child development checks are carried out on various days during the week.
Coronary Heart Disease
Nurses and Health Care Assistants can offer appointments to discuss risk factors and arrange tests and investigation to evaluate your risk of heart disease.
Clinics are held weekly, by appointment only. We care for the vast majority of our patients with Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes. Dr Andreas Pitsiaeli, who has had a special interest in diabetes for 15 years, leads the team which comprises Srs Melissa Sanders and Sue Arnold (Diabetes Trained nurses, Warwick Certified) and an attending podiatrist and dietician. Retinal Screening is performed annually off site.
We provide a full range of services including the contraceptive pills, the IUD ('coil'), injections, implants, as well as general contraceptive and pre-conception advice. This service is allied to sexual health.
For babies aged 2-12 weeks there is a drop in service (no appointment necessary) Friday morning between 11.00am and 12.00am. For children over 12 weeks appointments can be made with our regular health visitor Shelley every Friday morning. Appointments may be available outside these times, but these must be arranged through the health visitor Tel: 01372 741993.
Please see the website www.cshsurrey.co.uk/our-services/services-children for more information on the health visitor service.
The immunisation schedule for children has been subject to constant change recently. We fully endorse the current vaccine schedule.
Influenza and Pneumonia
Flu clinics are held annually as soon as the vaccines arrive (normally early October). Specific groups can get a flu jab on the NHS.
These are available at the GPs discretion. Once you have seen your GP who feels that an injection may help your problem, you may then book a routine appointment with one of our GP's who can give these injections at the Surgery. We are able to treat common orthopaedic problems such as tendonitis, tennis/golfer's elbow, trigger finger, Policemans heel, carpal tunnel syndrome, shoulder problems and sometimes osteoarthritis of the knee.
Many minor operations are easily and more conveniently performed at the centre by the doctors. Sessions are held on Tuesday mornings and Friday afternoons. Appointments should be made after consultation with your own doctor. Please be aware that NHS guidelines prohibit the removal of skin lesions purely on cosmetic grounds and as such you will need to arrange for this to be done privately outside of the practice. We are not allowed to offer private minor surgery to our NHS registered patients.
A phlebotomist attends Tuesday and Thursday mornings. If you are having a cholesterol check please fast for 12 hours and 6 hours for sugar only. Please ensure you still drink adequate amounts of water only.
This is only available to diabetic patients, booked through the diabetic clinic. We do offer a private podiatry service for all others.
We work with Quit 51 to provide a smoking cessation service. Appointments are available on Thursday afternoons.
Routine travel vaccinations are done during normal working hours. See the above tab for more details.
Ultrasound for our patients and those of local practices are done on a Thursday, by Surrey Ultrasound Services. This is a private company who do scans on the NHS. You need to be referred by your GP for an appointment, but if you need an urgent scan they can usually accomodate these requests at short notice.
We run warfarin clinics every day of the week, using our experienced bank of nurse and healthcare assistants. The blood test result is instantaneous and the dose is decided by intelligent software call INRstar, which has been proven far superior to traditional methods.
All our nurses are happy to discuss and encourage weight loss with patients and can advise on the most suitable way of losing weight.
Bustler is Woking's community transport charity, heavily subsidised by the council so as to provide an affordable service to the community. All vehicles are wheelchair accessible and drivers are fully trained. Visit the Bustler website here
Our regular clinics are supported by the ever increasing services we provide including:
We are pleased to be able to offer a range of minor surgery skin procedures starting from as little as £60. Our doctors have been performing minor surgery for over 20 years and are based in a modern primary care clinic. We are aware that the removal of many lumps, moles and warts is no longer possible under the NHS as they are viewed as essentially cosmetic. These are often easily removed with a variety of surgical techniques.
What surgery is available?
We have a fully equipped minor surgery consulting room and depending on the type of skin lesion we can offer therapy in a number of ways:
Simple shave excision
For skin tags and some warts
An electrical current to a fine metal tip and allows removal of some tags and warts.
Formal excision and sutures
This is where a cyst, mole or wart is completely removed using a standard technique with a scalpel and closed with a fine suture material.
All these procedures are covered with the use of a local anaesthetic and so there is no need to be fearful of experiencing undue pain during the process.
How do I book an appointment?
We offer daytime appointments several days each week but by arrangement we can see you on a Saturday morning or on an evening after 6-30pm. Our office is based at Surrey Travel Clinic so simply email us at firstname.lastname@example.org or telephone on 01737 366221 and we will be happy to advise you.
What happens at the appointment?
You may prefer to arrange an initial consultation to discuss whether you might consider any surgery or you may have already spoken to your GP or feel that you would wish to undergo the minor surgery on the day of the appointment. All you need to do is to inform us when you make the appointment. In almost all cases you will be able to drive home after the procedure has been performed. We will ask you to complete a medical questionnaire and return it to us before you attend the appointment by email or SAE.
How much does it cost?
If you choose to undergo the procedure at the same time as the initial consultation we will reduce the initial consultation fee by 50%
Please be aware that this is a private service offered only to patients not registered at Heathcote Medical Centre as patients. Under certain circumstances after his initial assessment the doctor may recommend that you see your registered GP or a plastic surgeon if the clinical situation warrants such intervention rather than proceeding with minor surgery at the clinic.
If you require any vaccinations relating to foreign travel you need to fill in a travel assessment form (available from reception). This will include which countries and areas within countries that you are visiting to determine what vaccinations are required.
There is further information about countries and vaccinations required on the links below
Please telephone 2 working days after handing in your travel assessment form to be given the necessary details about making appointments for your vaccinations.
Some travel vaccines may incur a charge. This is because not all travel vaccinations are included in the services provided by the NHS.
Travelling in Europe
If you are travelling to Europe a very useful booklet has been published with advice and guidance to help you get the most out of your holiday. To visit please click:- http://ec.europa.eu/publications/booklets/eu_glance/86/en.pdf (this is a large document and may take a minute or two to view)
Some services provided are not covered under our contract with the NHS and therefore attract charges. Examples include the following:
The fees charged are based on the British Medical Association (BMA) suggested scales and our reception staff will be happy to advise you about them along with appointment availability.
